Group Activity: Create a holiday
  • Your group has been tasked with creating a new national holiday. As a group, you need to brainstorm holiday ideas. Pick one and write down:
    1. The name of the holiday
    2. The purpose of the holiday. Why is this holiday important?
    3. Image(s), symbol(s), and colors associated with the holiday.
    4. Customs or practices that are needed to celebrate the holiday.
  • Write this up in a Google Doc and share with me via Google Classroom.
  • Success criteria:
    • A document, written in complete sentences, with all of the information asked for above.
    • #2 and #4 should be short paragraphs. Bullet points are acceptable for #3.
    • Names of the group should be listed at the top of the document.

Tuesday

Group Activity: Comparing Designs
  • Look at these design examples. There are 4 pairs of good and bad design examples.
  • As a group, identify at least 3 visual qualities that make the good design better than the bad design.
  • Success criteria: Take one sheet of paper per group. Divide it into quadrants and number them. In each quadrant write down 3 ways that one design is better than the other. Be specific (i.e. "The good design has bold subtitles which are easy to find" instead of "The good design is organized.")
